WATER SUPPLY AND DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM IN GAZA STRIP
West Bank and Gaza- April 2018
In April 2018, Lotti, as leading firm of a JV with Ai Engeenering, has completed the Design, Tender Documents and Assistance during Tendering of water supply and distribution system in Gaza strip.
This assignment has been accomplished under the service contract awarded from the Palestinian Water Authority (PWA), in the framework of the Project Implementation Consultant (PIC) for the Associated Works to Gaza Central Desalination Plant (GCDP) – WB (IDA) financing.
The objective of the assignment was to provide the consultancy services to improve the water supply system in Gaza strip, through efficient use and blending of desalinated water and available groundwater, while ensuring technical and financial sustainability of its operation, addressing the NRW issue and providing alternative options for the supply of energy required.
Despite the difficulties and challenges on the ground, the Design and Tender Documents divided in six contract packages were officially handled over to PWA in January 2018, as part of the components of the GCDP program, aimed at solving the disastrous water situation in the Gaza Strip by the year 2020, as described in this article.
The water resource for the new system will be provided, for a significant portion, by the 55 MCM/year desalination plant, financed by the EIB.
As per the services contracts signed with PWA in December 2015, Lotti is going to commence the second phase of its assignment related to “Construction Supervision of the above mentioned works, for a duration of 36 months.”
