SUPERVISION OF FINAL DESIGN OF VINDOBONA WASTE WATER TREATMENT PLANT- CAPACITY OF 7,5 m3/s

In November 2013, EPMAPS, the public services utility managing the water supply and sewage system of Quito, has awarded to Lotti Ingegneria the Contract for the Supervision of Final Design of the 440M USD Vindobona Project
The Contract has been signed in December 2013 and the consulting services have started in January 2014.
The assignment will have a duration of 600 days.
Final design will be carried out by the JV Hazen and Sawyer (U.S.A.) – Pi Epsilon (Colombia).
The Vindobona WWTP will rise on the top of a plateau located in the north of Quito. It will have tertiary treatment capabilities and will be designed to treat 7,5 m3/s by 2040, with additional energy generated from sludge anaerobic digestion.
The Vindobona project also includes:
- 34 Km long hydraulic tunnel to be used as a sewage collector pipeline linking La Tola district with Vindobona WWTP;
- 4,1 Km long hydraulic tunnel to be used as a sewage collector pipeline linking San Antonio district with Vindobona WWTP;
- a hydroelectric power station located at the bottom of Vindobona WWTP plateau that will operate under a gross head of 360 m using the 7,5 m3/s treated water. The energy produced (more than 20 MW) will be used for the WWTP process to reduce operating costs.
